Hooray - a Successful Launch!

Much to the delight of the 4th grade girls, one of our resident monarch butterflies emerged from her chrysalis yesterday and was set free to enjoy many new adventures in the wide, wide world! Nibbles came to us as a caterpillar who loved to nibble on lots of milkweed.  She soon attached herself to a stick, adopted her "J" position, made her chrysalis, and yesterday emerged as a beautiful butterfly.

Rumor has it that after Nibbles was released, she flew around the entire Bryn Mawr campus just to see what it was like - there were several reported sightings of a monarch butterfly from very reliable sources!  Please enjoy these pictures and share in our excitement.  Our second caterpillar, Bob should be emerging next week. We are so proud to be the stewards of these two butterflies.

Art_Individual & Collaborative Paintings

We started off the year painting "something you do not know and cannot name". Then we arranged these paintings into a class array and connected them with a continuous line.  We talked about self expression and the times we make choices because we are members of a group. See if you can follow the line that connects all the students together. Ask your daughter which is hers!

French: Savoir saluer, savoir se présenter

The girls did a fantastic job writing original skits in which they greeted each other, introduced themselves, asked their partners how they were doing, and said goodbye (using an expression other than au revoir!). As you will see in the pictures below, the skits were extremely creative and included singing, dancing, and characters such as George Washington, "Bob and Rob," Emma Thompson, Batman, and Hermione Granger.
