Art: One Point Perspective

Third graders have been using one point perspective to create real or imaginary interiors and landscapes. Girls have used various strategies to show deep space in a drawing. Ask your third grader which strategies she has been using. 

 
 

 
 

Welcome to Third Grade

The girls are all smiles about the new playground! 

Our newest third grader is right on top of things. 

Being with good friends at recess is still the best.

Third graders are swinging into the new school year along with their new uniforms!

Back inside the pleasantly air-conditioned classrooms, the girls are expanding their understanding of math by folding paper into given shapes and becoming quite the problem solvers.

We work well together with classmates,

reflect upon our own ideas, 

and find opportunities to help one another.

We are eager to learn and are good listeners.

French: Preparing for a trip to France

3rd grade French is an exciting time for the girls.  They are preparing for their imaginary trip to France.  So far they have already learned a skit between two girls in line at a travel agency.  They introduce themselves and talk about their trips.  On Monday they will make their airplane tickets.  Here is a video so you can get a glimpse at what hey have been learning.

French: La Fête du Fromage!

Today was the highly anticipated Fête du Fromage! The girls sampled le camembert, la mimolette, le roquefort, le saint albray, le pont-l'êveque, and le chèvre. While they ate, the girls kept track of their opinions on worksheets by categorizing each cheese under J'aime beaucoup, J'aime, and C'est bon (our polite way of saying Je n'aime pas tellement). History has shown that la mimolette is above and beyond the favorite while poor le roquefort is the least favorite. This year was no different. No matter what their opinions were, today was a very fun and special day in French class for all!

French: Faisons du fromage!

After learning about cheese for several weeks, today the girls helped me make (and of course, eat) le fromage! We heated du lait de vache, added du vinaigre, watched it curdle, and then strained it through une étamine. It was simple and délicieux.
